Lag is normally a result of slow or poor quality connection between your Football Manager Live client and the game servers. In many cases, however, an issue relating to your computer can cause poor performance and give the impression of lag.
To help address lag, please try the following steps:
Check the status of your current gameworld
If your issues are being caused by the Football Manager Live servers, it is likely that other managers will be experiencing similar problems. Please check with other managers in your gameworld using the Help chat room and consult the
gameworld status page to see if an issue is affecting Football Manager Live globally.
Check your system
If there are no reported problems with Football Manager Live itself, perform some basic checks on your system to ensure it is not contributing to the lag:
- Ensure no other programs are running in the background and you are not currently downloading at the same time as playing
- Perform a scan of your system for any viruses or spyware
- If you are using a wireless connection, try switching to a wired connection
- If you are experiencing lag specifically when playing a match (and at no other times) then try manually clearing your match cache. This can be done by performing a
clean re-install.
Check security software is allowing Football Manager Live full access to your internet connection
Ensure that your firewall and/or router are allowing traffic through the ports required by the game: 9920 and 9990-9999.
Our guides on this process are available here:

Check that no anti-virus scans are running at the same time as Football Manager Live
Anti-virus software or file-cleaning software running real-time scans of your computer can affect in-game performance if run simultaneously.
If you have any software such as this on your computer, please ensure that all Football Manager Live files and folders have been excluded from these real-time scans.

Check your internet connection
If no issues have been reported by other managers or on the gameworld status page and you have attempted the above checks on your system, please contact your ISP for advice.
Is the lag a one-off issue or a regular problem?
Often a temporary issue with your connection can cause short-term performance problems. Please try playing the game again later and see if the problem persists.
Regular lag at specific times of the day can point to restrictions on your internet connection, such as port throttling, being in place on the ports used by Football Manager Live. Please check with your ISP or network administrator (if you are using a shared connection, such as in a workplace or university).
